In California, assisted living settings for seniors — Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) — and adult residential facilities house vulnerable people who depend on staff for their day-to-day safety. To respond quickly to a medical emergency, these settings must keep staff trained in first aid and CPR on site at all times.

Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) and adult residential facility, licensed under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations by the Department of Social Services.

急救要求

An assisted living facility (RCFE) must have a CPR-certified staff member on the premises at all times, day and night, and first-aid certification is required for care staff — able to intervene with adults and to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). Certified nurse assistant (CNA) programs that staff these settings also include mandatory basic life support (BLS).

A recognized, up-to-date first-aid and CPR certificate is the way to meet this standard; it is in addition to the caregiver's occupational training and must be renewed periodically.
